Richie promises Commodores reunion
VALLEJO, Calif. - The plastic surgeon who operated on Kanye West's mother before she died last fall has been arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.
Police said Dr. Jan Adams was seen using an off-ramp to get on a freeway early Thursday in the Northern California town of Vallejo, and was driving on a suspended license from a previous DUI.
The former host of TV's "Plastic Surgery: Before and After" had operated on 58-year-old Donda West the day before she died of likely heart disease coupled with surgery complications.
The state was investigating whether Adams' medical license should be revoked or suspended because of two previous alcohol-related arrests.
Adams was scheduled for arraignment in Solano County Superior Court on Monday.
LATEST: Extra sheriff's deputies have been assigned to patrol the beaches of Malibu, California after two celebrity-related incidents at the weekend (21-22Jun08).
On Saturday (21Jun08), Colin Farrell challenged a paparazzi after the Irishman spotted the snapper trying to take beach shots of him, his son and pregnant pal Minnie Driver.
Farrell ran up the beach and confronted the videographer, asking, "Are you f**king taking a picture of me and my boy? Turn that off."
And on Sunday (22Jun08), snappers trying to get photos of Matthew MCConaughey at Paradise Cove beach brawled with angry surfers, who took offence when their playground became a paparazzi target.
In video footage released to news networks, the surfers can be seen beating up the photographers and dragging one of them into the ocean.
Local officials in Malibu are fighting to change city laws to prevent the paparazzi from invading beaches. In the meantime, police have agreed to patrol target areas in a bid to halt further clashes between photographers and sunbathers.
One local tells WENN, "It's getting out of hand. Suddenly you spot a celebrity and then there's a swarm of photographers. Malibu people are sick of it."
In Zohan Dvir, Israelis have a Hollywood hero no matter that the soldier-turned-hairstylist played by Adam Sandler represents some of their countrys worst stereotypes.
You Dont Mess With The Zohan looks to be a big hit in the Holy Land.
Billboards bearing the leading mans split-legged, blowdryer-wielding image are plastered across city walls and numerous stories have been written and broadcast in the local media, which has called it the most Israeli film in Hollywood.
The movie tries to bridge Jews and Arabs by making fun of them. But in Israel, where the movie opened Thursday, people are drawn in more because of its Israeli protagonist and the cadre of Israeli actors and musicians featured in the film.
The Zohan, as hes known, is Israels most legendary commando. He can karate kick through walls, catch bullets with his teeth and outswim jet boats; hes equally skilled in the bedroom. But after awhile he tires of killing off terrorists and barbecuing nude with bikini-clad babes on the beach and longs for more meaning in his life.
Israelis didnt seem too slighted by the not-too-favourable portrayal of them.
I wasnt insulted at all. It was funny. Exaggerated, but funny, said Guy Ben-Yaacov, 23. Besides, I know a few guys like Zohan.
I think it is almost a gesture toward Israel, said Ido Mosseri, who plays Zohans pushy expat Israeli sidekick Oori. I was a little worried because Israeli crowds are very critical, but I think they took it all in with love.
